This year, the Swiss preliminary at 19. Grand Prix of music with us in Samnaun instead. Swiss National Holiday, 1st Augustt

The traditional ceremonial address held on our national holiday is a great event every year. Top politicians and prominent personalities from here and abroad speak on each occasion - and with their festive words crown a completely successful celebration.

Even if the tendency in most Swiss towns and villages is going in the opposite direction, the Swiss national holiday on 1st August is still a great traditional event in Samnaun. During the day the locals and guests can enjoy the many activities and attractions, while in the evening the political prominence comes 'on stage' in order to introduce, with the festive speech, the highlight of the celebrations.

Well-known politicians such as Heiner Geissler, Duri Bezzola, Franz Vranitzky, Oskar Lafontaine, Helmut Schmidt, Edmund Stoiber or Wolfgang Schäuble have given talks here on economic, political and social themes. As part of the festivities there are of course the great fireworks and the wonderful bonfires kindled on high at various points of the Samnaun valley.
